 HISTORY
The
Greater Birmingham Alabama Chapter of the AALNC was established
by Founding President, Kathy Smith,
RN with 12 members and was chartered in March 1999. The Greater Birmingham
Chapter supports the mission, position statements, scope
of practice and goals of the AALNC.
The American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants,
established in 1989 is a non-profit organization, dedicated to the
professional enhancement of Registered Professional Nurses practicing in a
consulting capacity in the legal arena. It serves as a resource for its
members by providing opportunities for continuing education and an exchange
of information on matters relating to Legal Nurse Consulting, Medical Care
and Healthcare Law.
MISSION STATEMENT
The Greater Birmingham Alabama Chapter of AALNC promotes the
professional enhancement of Registered Professional Nurses practicing in a
consulting capacity in the legal profession by providing a forum for
education and exchange of information relating to Legal Aspects of Nursing
and Healthcare Law. Its members practice acknowledges the Code of Ethics of
the AALNC in accordance with the American Bar Association and the American
Nurses Association. This chapter functions as a resource to other
professional organizations of similar interests.
